IWD Series – Karina Karunwi of Ere Wellness

March 22, 2024

Amidst the hustle and bustle of Lagos, Karina Karunwi serves as a beacon of light for women seeking empowerment, wellness, and community. Karina is a qualified Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) Leadership Coach and the visionary founder of Ere Wellness.

But Karina’s journey towards empowering and nurturing people, particularly women, has not been without challenges. Driven by her own experiences battling with an eating disorder in her younger years, she emerged stronger and more determined to make a difference in the world around her. Karina channelled her passion into creating Ere Wellness, a sanctuary where women gather to nurture their minds, bodies, and souls, and Ere Wellness Body Image Conversation Cards, a tool designed to promote positive body image and self-acceptance among women.

One of Ere Wellness’ most cherished initiatives is its Women’s Community—a vibrant and diverse collective of up to 500 women aged 18 to 60+, both in Nigeria and across the diaspora. The community serves as a forum for women to come together, share experiences, and support each other on their journeys. From virtual meetups to in-person gatherings, Ere Wellness provides a safe space for discussions on career and business development, women’s health, sex, mental wellness, and more.

What else should you know about Karina Karunwi?

Karina’s impact extends far beyond the confines of Ere Wellness’s virtual and physical spaces. She has shared her expertise with several prestigious organizations, including Microsoft, Techstars, and the United Nations Headquarters. Through these training workshops, she equips professionals, founders, and students with invaluable techniques for personal growth, leadership, and communication.

As a woman entrepreneur residing in Lagos, Karina has faced unique challenges, including the pervasive misogyny that plagues many female leaders in the region. Despite facing systemic barriers, she remains steadfast in her mission to uplift and empower people through her workshops and community initiatives.

Beyond her professional endeavours, Karina is a ball of fun! She is the proud mother of two adorable bunnies, Tofu and Goji, who fill her with joy and laughter. An avid reader, Karina’s home is full of books, plants, and an eclectic variety of teas.

Through her leadership, compassion, and dedication to holistic wellness, Karina Karunwi continues to inspire positive change, one person at a time.
